Spanish authorities are continually changing their policies and what documentation is required to re-register a car in Alicante or other provinces in Spain:
To date, these are the documents we require:
- Up to date NIE – Many authorities are not accepting NIE´s that are more than 12-18 months old. They need to be renewed at the local police station / foreign office. For further information on how to obtain your NIE please click here.
- Padron (Empadronamiento certificate) – This document is now obligatory. No longer do the Spanish authorities accept a rental contract or escritura (title deeds) during the process of registering a vehicle in Alicante, Spain For further information on what is a padron please click here – http://registeracarinspain.com/what-is-a-padron
- V5 / Car documentation – this must be in the name of the person that wishes to re-register the vehicle. They must also have the NIE and Padron certificate in their name
- CoC – Certificate of conformity for the car. If you do not have this then we can order a “Ficha Reducida” from a Spanish automobile engineer which will be valid for the ITV (MOT) test. This normally takes 24-48 hours to produce
It is important that you have the above documents in place before we can proceed. For any quieries please contact us by clicking here.
